Steak a la Trudy

This is my mother’s tried-and-true steak marinade. Even Michelle has looked at it and wanted some.


  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 2 or 3 garlic cloves, mashed
  • ground black pepper
  • ginger powder


  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons red wine
  • olive oil


  1. Prepare the steak by pressing holes in it with a fork.
  2. Mash the garlic cloves, then rub all over the steak. Make sure that the garlic stays on.
  3. Sprinkle the pepper and ginger over it
  4. Mix up the soy sauce and wine, pour over the seak.
  5. Drizzle a little bit of olive oil over the steak.
  6. Turn and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  7. Grill / pan fry as you please. Comes out best grilled.
