  • Shakshuka (Eggs Poached in Spicy Tomato Sauce)

An Israli (but originally North African) dish, this is simple, quick, and made with things that we usually have on hand. Michelle made it tonight within 25 minutes, most of that cooking time. She said it was about 5 minutes of actual prep. The end result: a new favorite. 🙂

  • Veggie Chili

When I first heard Michelle say “veggie chili” I was skeptical. Most meat eaters are wary of anything vegetarian which usually is done with meat. It violates a basic food tenant: don’t substitute, only reduce. (Or something along those lines.) Thousands of Indian dishes make the veggies front-and-center, instead of a “replacement”. But I digress.…

  • Honeyed Citrus

This is our adaptation of the Happy Girl Kitchen Honey Orange Slices recipe.

  • Steak a la Trudy

My mom’s tried-and-true steak recipe. It’s simple and fantastic.

  • Grilled flatbread with Za’atar

An incredibly easy and fun BBQ bread to have on hand.

  • Piquillos Stuffed with Crab & Mango

Deceptively tasty. I can’t remember why it came up a few months ago, but it has been made several times since to well-wishes. 🙂

  • Grilled Chile-Lime Arctic Char

We didn’t even know about Arctic Char until 2006 or so, when my sister-in-law, Jessica, suggested it for a dinner. This fish holds well with such a simple accompaniment.

  • Roasted Broccoli & Shrimp

Michelle loved this dish so much that we ate it once a week for 6 weeks. Honestly. Repeats hardly ever happen and this one was a winner.

  • Baked French Toast

This is now a standard post-Thanksgiving brunch recipe. Why? Because you can throw it together the night before, then wake up, pop into oven, and you have instant-breakfast. When we party all-night long, we throw this together the day before so we have something easy to nibble on the following day.

  • Sweet Corn Bread Pudding

This has been used a number of times, originally for Thanksgiving. It is good for Turkey Day, brunch or for a vegetarian dinner.
